St Stephens Episcopal Church

Churches in West Valley City, UT
In July, 1962, All Saints Church in Salt Lake City suggested parishioners hold neighborhood social gatherings to become better acquainted. Those who met at the home of Mr. And Mrs. Jack Dorsey discussed founding a mission in the S-western part of the valley and agreed to invite all the Episcopalians they knew or could locate through a notice in The Eagle Advertiser to an exploratory meeting. The 1st service of the South West Episcopal Mission was held on Sunday, October 21, 1962, in a former dry cleaning founding in a suburban shopping center.

St Stephens Episcopal Church
read moreAs expected, gatherings at St. Stephen's and San Esteban have been cancelled for the foreseeable future. We invite you to join us on our Facebook page for morning prayer services every Sunday at 11 am. Stay safe, stay kind and pray. At St. Stephen's, church means a supportive community, a place where you can learn, grow and heal, and a sacred space where you can encounter and experience holiness. We are a wild mix of people: life-long Episcopalians born and raised in the Anglican tradition, converts from the more widespread Utah religion, locals, immigrants, of every generation and of every walk of life.
About Us
read moreSt. Stephen's is truly a house of prayer. Prayer is incorporated into our services through the Book of Common Prayer. To be included in the prayers of the people during services or if you want to include someone you know, just write the name on the prayer board in the sanctuary. We have an intercessory prayer ministry available in the chapel area of the church after communion with a prayer team available for prayer and anointing with oil. Contact Deanna Anderson if you would like to be part of this prayer ministry.
read moreOur service starts at 11 am on Sundays. We use a bulletin with the order of service that can be found right at the entrance in a basket. You may sit anywhere. Throughout the service you may see people standing or kneeling or sitting. You may follow their lead as you are able and as you are inclined. During the sharing of the peace we go around the room and shake hands or hug while saying "Peace be with you!". This is not the end of the service. Our dress code is casual to very casual, we welcome people wearing anything from their Sunday best to their shorts and flip-flops.
