read moreYou and your dog will attend one 30 minute private class per week. Each week will focus on a new command. You will be instructed on how to teach your dog each command and will be expected to complete daily homework. It generally takes two months to complete the private classes and to teach your dog all of the included commands. The private classes will include basic obedience commands, address any behavior problems and teach dog psychology based upon the Wolf Pack Theory. Once you have completed the private classes you will graduate to group classes.

read moreWe also work on any problem behaviors. Throughout the four-week program, your dog is trained with daily. We start training in a non-distracting environment and gradually increase distractions at the dog's pace. Eventually we are training the dog in front of shopping centers and in group classes. We also have 5 acres of land with a variety of distractions; livestock, wild rabbits and other dogs. When not being trained, your dog has its own indoor and outdoor run and is fed only premium dog food.

We use Tropiclean shampoos and conditioners and a variety of formulas are available at no additional cost, including medicated for sensitive or dry skin. Every grooming includes the bath, blow dry, full brush out, Furmination, ear cleaning and nail trim. Feet, face and sanitary hair trimming is also included in appropriate dogs. Any of our groomers can perform a breed-specific or show specific hair cut as well as any individual haircut that you desire.

The family becomes the dog's pack. We help you, the dog owner, understand how to communicate to your dog that you are the pack leader through training and daily interaction. Dogs do not have an understanding of language. When you speak to an untrained dog, you are speaking in a foreign language. Training is necessary to open up lines of communication between you and your dog.

read moreAt Colorado Dog Academy, we have individual-indoor runs so that the dogs may go in and out all day as they please, and are closed indoors at nighttime and during severe weather. The insides and outsides of the kennels are hosed out once per day and the waste is removed four times per day. The insides are heated in the winter and cooled by industrial sized circulating fans in the summer. The insides are cleaned with both an air and a floor disinfectant each morning. Each dog is provided with an appropriate sized water receptacle that is filled each morning and throughout the day as needed.

Unlike many daycares, your dog does not need to pass an interview to stay with us. Each dog receives an indoor-outdoor run so that they may run and bark with neighbor dogs while ensuring their safety. Each individual dog receives a walk and dogs that come with siblings will have a trip to the play yard.
