College in Raleigh, NC WAKE TECHNICAL COMMUNITY COLLEGE (WAKE TECH) is a two-year, public institution serving Raleigh, North Carolina, and surrounding Wake County. It was chartered in 1958 as the Wake County Industrial Education Center and started operation in 1963 with 34 full-time students. In 1964 it was formally dedicated as the W. W. Holding Industrial Education Center. The college grew rapidly, and in 1987 its name was changed to Wake Technical Community College.

read moreWake Tech's Scott Northern Wake Campus opened in 2007 and serves students from Wake Forest, Rolesville, Knightdale, Wendell, and points north. The 127-acre campus offers a robust College/University Transfer program as well as an Associate in Fine Arts degree program. It offers a wide variety of Workforce Continuing Education (non-credit) classes including computer skills, Certified Nursing Assistant, and Human Resources Development. The campus also offers classes for students in the Wake Early College of Health and Sciences, a partnership with Wake County Public Schools.

Wake Technical Community College academic programs (credit and non-credit) that are designed to lead to professional licenses are either tied to the State of North Carolina or national certifications. If you intend to pursue professional licenses outside the State of North Carolina once you have completed your academic program at Wake Technical Community College, please refer to the Professional Licensure Section on the college's distance education authorization page for additional information.

read moreThe Office of Student Advocacy and Support (SAS) was designed to address a variety of non-academic barriers that our students are facing oftentimes causing a student to drop out or stop out of school. SAS resources are available to all currently enrolled curriculum students and a limited number of programs are available to the greater Wake Tech and Wake County communities. Housing, child care, health insurance, legal aid, finances/financial literacy, transportation are the primary areas in which SAS is able to provide information and assistance.
