Whaley House Museum
Museum & Art Gallery in Flint, MI
As the last Victorian era home on East Kearsley Street, Whaley House Museum remains as a visible link to Flint's past. Since the home was constructed, the city has evolved from a tiny lumbering town to one of the world's leading industrial centers to its present incarnation as a regional leader in higher education. In 1884 and 1885, Robert and Mary Whaley constructed their residence on East Kearsley Street, a place they would call home for 40 years.

read moreOur collection of artifacts can been seen in the historically staged rooms of the home. The Whaley Historic House Museum not only tells the history of the McFarlans and Whaleys, two prominent families, but also the history of Flint at a time of profound change. In 1885, Robert Jeremiah Whaley and his family moved into their home at 624 E. Kearsley Street. Whaley had hired Detroit-architect George Watkins to design an extensive remodel of the house, which transformed it from the 1859 Italiante into the stylish Victorian home.
