read moreHealthFirst Family Care Center began as a Model Cities Program in 1971 in response to a need for accessible medical and dental care expressed by residents. The City of Fall River provided strong support for this program, and its name was subsequently changed to the Community Development Service Center. The Center has served three generations of families. HealthFirst's service area has grown over the past 37 years to include the Portuguese, Hispanic, Cambodian, African American and Brazilian Portuguese populations.

read moreAs part of a holistic approach to treating chronic diseases such as asthma, diabetes, and heart disease, our team of registered nurses, physicians and our Certified Diabetes Educators assist patients in developing treatment plans and goals. Our diabetes program is accredited by the American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE). A team member is always available to assist our patients with questions about their health.

Our trained on-site interpreters speak English, Spanish, Portuguese and Cape Verdean Creole. For other language needs we offer Telephonic or Video Remote Interpretation. When necessary we make arrangements for an in-person American Sign Language interpreter from the Massachusetts Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. Interpreter services bridge linguistic and cultural gaps and these services are provided free of charge.

read moreThe HealthFirst Opioid and Alcohol Recovery Program is an innovative office-based addiction treatment program utilizing medication for addiction treatment (MAT) available to our primary care patients. In partnership with each patient, our highly experienced multi-disciplinary staff also examine and address the related medical, psychiatric and social barriers to sustained recovery. While the primary diagnostic focus is on opioid dependence, with or without related psychiatric disorders, patients seeking MAT for alcohol dependence may also be referred.

Our state of the art facility houses nine operatories with digital x-ray units; a panoramic digital x-ray unit, and electronic dental records. In addition our center includes many talented dentists and dental hygienists educated at some of the most prestigious dental schools around the country, a diverse group of exceptional dental assistants, a professional front desk team, and a seasoned dental outreach coordinator.
