We currently have practiced medicine and behavioral medicine in San Francisco Bay Area for over thirty three years. We were disillusioned when many of our patients with heart disease, diabetes, hypertension etc were not losing weight following the standard American Heart Association (AHA) diet. Our exposure to Dr. Barry Sears of Zone diet system and Dr. Bruce Holub of University of Guelph led to explore a safe alternate to the extremes of AHA diet and Aitkin's diet. The educational resources of American Society of Bariatric Physicians was immensely helpful to focus on the new science that works.
