The love commandment and Jesus' prayer for Christian unity (John 13:34, 17:21) challenges us to give up narrowness and exclusiveness of denomination, culture and race. We're learning to love more broadly. Human power and effort are too limited and frail to accomplish the aims of God's Kingdom. We're turning aside from self-confidence and learning to rely on the Holy Spirit. We're broken people, and we like to avoid pretense, because God loves the truth.
