The Fire Museum of Texas opened in 1984 in the historic Central Fire Headquarters Station situated at 400 Walnut Street in downtown Beaumont. In 1986 the State Firemen's & Fire Marshals' Association of Texas endorsed the musuem as the official Fire Museum of Texas. The group continues to support the museum with funding and encourages fire fighters from around the state to support the mission of the Museum. The Fire Museum is home to an extensive collection of fire engines and firefighting equipment dating back to 1856.
