Museum & Art Gallery in Charlotte, NC During World War I, the League of Woman's Services operated the Blue Bird Tea Room to raise funds for the Red Cross. After the Tea Room closed, 2, 500 remained in the organization's bank account. Miss Jane Beverley Evans, a Florence community leader, artist and member of the League, met a Mr. Chapman of the Santa Fe Museum, now the Museum of New Mexico, while traveling in the Southwest during 1924-25. Mr. Chapman was selling a surplus of Indian pottery to other museums. Miss Evans reorganized the Tea Room Committee into a museum in order to purchase pottery in the amount of $400.

All supplies and written instructions are included with access to online video tutorials. You don't want to miss February's Family Day at Home!
Student Volunteers
read moreStudent volunteers assist leaders of the Summer Studios programming for students ages 5-12. The FCM will provide documentation of volunteer hours to school program departments upon request. The Florence County Museum is currently offering student volunteer opportunities in the Education Department. Student volunteers will assist leaders of the Imagination Ball and Summer Studios programming for students ages 5-12. The Student Volunteer Program at the Florence County Museum is open to current middle school IB students and high school students.
Rental Request
read moreThe Waters Gallery is generally available for rental before or after normal business hours. Consideration for each request is based upon the timing of the event in relation to the Museum's activities and current availability. It is recommended that you reserve your rental at least 12 weeks in advance. Rental reservations will be accepted as early as one year from the event date. Adult Learning
read moreSpend the evening exploring your creative side and learning new art making skills at the Florence County Museum. All materials are provided and all experience levels are welcome. Free of charge. Open to the public. Join in the fun at the Florence County Museum's socially distanced Indigo Dip and Dye. Bring your own fabrics to dye in the Indigo grown at the FCM. Each participant will be provided one white cotton flour sack towel, use of resist-pattern supplies, and unlimited use of the indigo vats during the two-hour session.
Faces of Florence

The intention of this exhibit is to highlight the variety of faces and familiar locations within Florence County. Old family photo albums are a great place to start looking. Submissions don't have to be older photos, as we will also accept contemporary photos. You can submit your photo digitally using the form below. All photo submissions will be reviewed by the museum's curatorial staff to ensure and maintain quality standards.
