Gasho Of Japan
Restaurant in Denver, CO
The Japanese Government has designated the Gasho type buildings as National Treasures. This unique Japanese multiple family farmhouse is typical of those found 100's of years ago in certain regions of Japan. During the civil wars that ravages the land during the twelfth century, the Heike Clan was defeated by the Genji Clan. Survivors of the Heike Clan isolated themselves in the mountainous region of Hida, where they developed this kind of farmhouse. The original Gasho farmhouse was dismantled in the remote mountain village of Hida and brought to America in the early 1970's.
