The Metropolitan Center for Mental Health was established in 1962 in order to supply low cost psychological treatment for people with emotional problems. For over forty years, the clinic has offered affordable mental health services to the community, consulted with our agencies, and provided advanced training. The Center provides a huge array of mental health services. Our customers include all ages and cultures - everyone who makes up our diverse community. Personal psychotherapy is the major (but not only) form of treatment. Metropolitan is deeply dedicated to community involvement. Our team members supply consultation to neighborhood schools, religious organizations and local groups.

read moreHispanic Family Services was started in 1984 by Dr. Francine Ruskin at Metropolitan Center for Mental Health to provide for the mental health needs of the Hispanic community in a culturally sensitive manner. The program grew rapidly with an active relationship with schools, hospitals, churches, drug rehabilitaion facilities and other community organizations. At present the program continues to expand. Following the intake process, you will be assigned a therapist. The center is open Monday through Friday from 9a.m. to 10p.m. and on Saturday from 9a.m. to 4p.m.

The whole child is addressed, with a focus on strengths as well as weaknesses, and with sensitivity to all of the others involved in the child's life. A treatment plan is formulated which delineates a multi-pronged therapy, with all services to be coordinated by the child or adolescent's therapist. The type and frequency of the child's individual therapy, as well as family (or other) involvement, recommended will be reviewed and agreed upon.
