New Covenant was chartered in December of 1980. Reverend Steve Matthew was appointed as the pastor for the new congregation. The 1st service was held on September 28, 1980 at the Catfish Cove Restaurant. Each Sunday we would replace the deer head with a cross and the tables with a tiny pulpit and chairs. One table would serve as the altar. Service would progress with ice dropping in the ice machine and the scent of cooking as the Catfish Cove prepared for opening each Sunday. Service would have to end promptly so they could open on time.

Not only that, but when times are good, we can spend time learning to be better people, to love each other better, try and hold each other accountable and challenge each other to be the best people God intended us to be so that we might fulfill God's purpose for our lives.
