For five years, Portland Furniture on Burnside thrived mostly by word-of-mouth, as clients told their family and friends about the store's variety and affordable prices. Still, many people were missing out on the store's charms. Tucked discreetly next to The Bitter End pub, Portland Furniture was virtually camouflaged from passersby. When Dana Griffith purchased Portland Furniture two years ago, she set to work getting the landlord's permission to paint the storefront a warm, mocha color, accented with green trim. Now the facade beckons to pedestrians and drivers alike.
