St Barnabas Episcopal Church
read moreThank you for your interest in St. Barnabas. I hope you feel welcomed and a part of the family. I want to make myself available to you and your family and if there is anything I can do please let me know. Whether that be to answer questions, prayer support, campus tour, ministry overview, help work to end homelessness and human suffering (!), or just someone to share a conversation with over a cup of coffee; I am here for whatever you need. We love to love people here at St. Barnabas and would really love for you to be a part of our family too.
What to Expect
read moreOfficially: dress reverent but comfortable. Honestly, we care more about why you are here and not really what you look like. Also, during football season don't be too surprised if you see a New Orleans Saints Jersey or shirt around the worship space! In the Episcopal Church we recognize the Holy Eucharist as being the Real Presence of Jesus Christ and the communion as being our family dinner. Therefore, all baptized Christians are welcome and encouraged to come forward and receive the sacrament, no matter what flavor of Christianity you were baptized into.
Ministry
read moreEvery week, the Saint Barnabas Altar Guild assists the clergy and serves the parish community by maintaining the Altar, Sacristy, vestments, linens, vessels, candles, and supplies for all worship services and any other special events. The Altar Guild ensures that the proper colors are in place and that the Hymn Boards are current for each service according to the liturgical season and the service itself. Serving on the Guild requires a commitment to be available when scheduled. While Altar Guilds in The Episcopal Church have traditionally been composed of women, here at Saint Barnabas, we welcome all parishioners to serve, regardless of gender or age.
