Churches in Downey, CA Greek Orthodox Christians have lived in Downey since the 1950s and attended other Greek Orthodox Churches in the area. In 1982 it was determined that enough families expressed an interest in founding a Greek Orthodox Church in Downey. The parish 1st worshiped in spaces rented from St. Mark's Episcopal Church several blocks N of the Church's present location on Downey Avenue. In 1995 the parish purchased the present property on Downey Avenue and renovated several vacant stores on the site into a Chapel and fellowship hall.

By developing a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and becoming active sacramental members of the living Church, our young people will be equipped with tools necessary to assist them in their journey toward salvation.
