Trinity Baptist Church

Churches in New York, NY
We trust that all people are sinners in need of a savior. We believe that God has made Himself known to us in history through the person of Jesus Christ and that He is the Savior, dying on the cross for the sin of those who would believe in him. As Peter stated succinctly in Acts 4:12, Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved. We affirm Jesus' prayer in John 17 where, in praying to the Father, He said: Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent. The more we grow to know our God and Savior, the more we experience the eternal purpose to which He has called us, to glorify Him and serve Him forever.

Trinity Baptist Church
read moreWe're a church that reflects and celebrates the diversity of the city in which we live. On any given Sunday some thirty different languages may be heard here. Our church consists of families, singles, young, and old and spans the socio-economic spectrum. At Trinity, we desire authentic and enduring relationships with others and with God. Together, we strive to become more and more like the church described in the Bible - vibrant and vital.
About Us
read moreThe mission of our youth ministry is to bring youth into a real relationship with Jesus. We want to engage, energize and equip them to be disciples of Christ. We aim to draw our students closer to Christ by expressing unconditional love to them and encouraging the continued work of Jesus Christ in their lives. Our vision is to work in close partnership with parents and our entire congregation to have our youth integrated in the church as a whole. We seek to make our youth ministry a multigenerational ministry.
read moreTrinity supports many missionaries in locations from Africa to the U.S. We also have quite a few right here in New York! Take a glance at the missionaries we support and scroll down to see what they are doing. There you can access some of their latest letters and contact them about their prayer requests. Trinity supports several more missionaries, but, for security reasons, their information is not listed below. Trinity believes that laypeople - the general congregation, even you - should try missions themselves.
Need Help
read moreSometimes life can be difficult. But we don't have to face challenges alone. At Trinity we are a community that serves each other, our city and the world. The bible tells us that that world will know we follow Jesus by the love we show each other. If you are in need of help, or prayer, or have relationships that need healing please reach out to us. The Benevolence Ministry distributes benevolence funds to those in our community who are in financial need. Our goal is to try to connect you with resources and/or resource providers, give you some encouragement, and possibly provide you with new ideas or perspectives to apply to your current situation.
read moreWe are a member of Converge (formerly known as the Baptist General Conference) and a people who profess a living faith in Jesus Christ, who, as God incarnate, so loved the world that He came to redeem us and give us a life that is rich and abundant. We also affirm that the Bible (both Old and New Testaments) is the authoritative Word of God in which He reveals Himself and gives us the standard for life. Our mission statement articulates the way we believe God has purposefully gifted and called us to serve the city and time in which we find ourselves.
read moreBaptism is the sacramental sign of the New Covenant (established by Jesus as opposed to the covenant of the Old Testament Law). It is a sign by which God seals his pledge to those who have been called by God's grace to inherit salvation. Baptism signifies several things. Primarily, it is a sign of the cleansing and remission of our sin as accomplished at the cross of Christ. Also, and very importantly, it signifies being regenerated by the Holy Spirit, being buried and raised together with Christ, being indwelt by the Holy Spirit, being adopted into the family of God, and being sanctified by the Holy Spirit.
read moreTrinity was founded in 1867 as The First Swedish Baptist Church of New York. We dedicated our current building on January 24, 1931 and officially changed our name on January 25, 1942. This latter date also marked the transition from Swedish to English in the major services. Evidence of our Swedish roots are visible in the unconventional architecture of our building. The story of our church and our Baptist heritage is clearly seen in our beliefs. We emphasize Christ as Savior, the Bible as authoritative for faith and practice, believer's baptism by immersion, a regenerate church membership, and democratic organization.
read moreOur desire is to help people experience the manifest presence of God; to move beyond just having a relationship with God, but also to experience continual fellowship with Him. We want to help people hear and recognize His voice in their hearts, through worship. That kind of experience with God is not reserved for the "super"-spiritual. God desires that for all of us. We want our Trinity family to consider every worship event, including Sundays, as an opportunity to introduce others to that God experience.
