For years I wrestled with this lofty question of not feeling worthy of such an esteemed calling. Who am I to call myself a healer? If the body does the work, then what and whom have I truly healed? How do I know when a person has healed? And what of a society that either refuses to acknowledge the healer or looks at us with a distanced skepticism, relics of a dark time before science brought light to disease? After all, healers are the people of biblical legends and childhood fables, snake-oil salesmen at their worst, but revered teachers at their finest.
