Santa Clara County Household

At any given time in 2008, nearly 1, 600 Santa Clara County kids were living in out-of-home placement because their own families were unable to safely care for them. Almost 50% of these kids were placed with relatives, 10% were in group homes working towards again living with a family in the community, and 40% or nearly 650 kids were with foster families. Every day more kids enter care but the County has fewer than 400 licensed foster care homes.
