POSSO was born, or rather incorporated, on January 19, 1976. Its parents were hope and charity-hope for a better tomorrow and charity for those in need. The guardians of the hope and charity were a tiny group of ambitious, energetic twentysomethings with a vision of what could be, if only given a chance.

At any given time in 2008, nearly 1, 600 Santa Clara County kids were living in out-of-home placement because their own families were unable to safely care for them. Almost 50% of these kids were placed with relatives, 10% were in group homes working towards again living with a family in the community,
